The bacterial cell wall is made of NAG-NAM Glycopeptide polymer chains
These chains are linked together by transpeptide bonds made by PBP Penicillins Binding Proteins (Transpeptidase, Carboxypeptidase)
The β-Lactams Antibiotics inhibit the PBP, therefore they block the Bacterial cell wall synthesis
They have a Post Antibiotic Effect PAE
